Neighborhood News – By Kathleen Schiop | September 14 “The heart is in the home,” so the saying goes, and for most of us, our homes are our refuge from the stress and anxieties of the everyday world, so naturally we want our home to be a comfortable and beautiful place where we can relax. Courtney Stone, the charismatic owner of The Room Exchange, says he comes by his chosen profession honestly. “My dad has a store in Ocala called Bargains and Treasures,” he says, “and I have pretty much spent the last ten years in this business. You’re not going to get rich doing this, but I just love it.” Two years after opening the store, Courtney was joined by wife Lesley¸ a former USF librarian who eventually left her job to work full time at the store. “We’re here all the time,” he laughs. “It’s definitely a family business.” Continue...

LUTZ — Thanksgiving weekend is a time most families relax and kick off the holiday shopping season. But for Courtney and Lesley Stone, this past week was quite the opposite. The couple and their 10 employees worked nonstop to move their used furniture store, Room Exchange, to a new location a mile down the road that adds 5,000 square feet to their growing business. Dec. 6–LAND O’ LAKES — Courtney and Lesley Stone have been working about 100 hours a week, but they’re confident their hard work will pay off. The owners of The Room Exchange, the Stones have been busy moving the well-established consignment store from the Village Lakes Shopping Center near the old Walmart at State Road 54 and U.S. 41 to Willow Bend Towne Centre at Collier Parkway and S.R. 54. With the move, The Room Exchange, which re-opened Thursday, is in a 12,500-square-foot spot, about 5,000 square feet larger than the old store. Thus, the sales floor can hold a lot more living- and dining-room sets, framed pictures and antiques (such as a storage trunk from the 1860s) than the former location. Read full story here....
